#2020-231206/West Precinct/First Watch:

On 8-4-2020 at 0811 hours, a 911 call was received alleging that an assault was occurring in the 2200 block of 1 AVE. Officers arrived and called a SGT to the scene after determining that a hate crime may have occurred. Witnesses confirmed the victim’s account that the suspect approached the victim and used a racial slur and then assaulted the victim with her fists. Suspect was arrested for investigation of a hate crime. Victim was not injured. 

#2020-231309/South Precinct/First Watch:

On 08-04-20 at 1001 hours officers from the South Precinct responded to the report of multiple shots fired in the 2800 block of S. Hanford St. Officers arrived and located three vehicles that had been struck by gunfire. An apartment building had also been hit. Witnesses reported that one person had been shot, but an area check for the victim was negative. Shortly after 1015 hours the victim of the shooting was dropped off at Harborview Medical Center. He sustained a gunshot wound to the back but was in stable condition. The victim has been involved in at least two other shots fired incidents in the same area since May.  

#2020-231658/Southwest Precinct/Second Watch:

On 8-4-2020 at 1654 hours, officers responded to a male in crisis in the 9800 block of 47th Ave SW. The subject was armed with handgun and had a rifle. While speaking on the phone, the subject fired a shot and all communication ended. Officers arrived and formulated a plan. Officers were able to contact the male. The male admitted to firing the weapon. Officers recovered the handgun and rifle. The male was transported to an area hospital.  

#2020-231539/South Precinct/Second Watch:

On 8-4-2020 at 1427 hours, SPD Homicide Detectives had probable cause to arrest a suspect for a murder that occurred on 22 July (2020-197956). The suspect also has an outstanding DOC warrant and a history of eluding and violence against police officers. The suspect was observed on this date apparently conducting street drug distribution. The suspect was taken into custody without incident and booked into the King County Jail. 

#2020-231793/South Precinct/Third Watch:

On 8-4-2020 at 2013 hours, a man was sitting in an RV approximately 20 feet from his 10 ft x 12 ft tent when he witnessed someone set fire to his tent. The Seattle Fire Department responded and put out the fire. The tent and its contents were burned to the ground. The victim positively identified the suspect to the police. The Arson Bomb Squad responded and interviewed the suspect who was later booked into King County Jail for Inv of Arson. No one was injured.  

#2020-231796/North Precinct/Third Watch:

On 8-4-2020 at 2019 hours, 60 protesters and 10 vehicles participated in the “Everyday March Protest,” which originated at Olympic Hills Elementary School. Reporting parties complained about shouting, loud megaphones, and blocking of intersections as the group traveled southbound. One woman said protesters attempted to take her phone because she took pictures of them. The group eventually stopped and rallied in the 12000 blk of 25 Avenue NE, covered the street with graffiti, then dispersed sometime before 0100 hours. No face-to-face contact between Officers and protesters occurred.
