#2020-242875/Southwest Precinct/Second Watch:
On 8-17-2020 at 1700 hours, officers responded to a report of a threat involving a knife. During the investigation, it was determined this was a hate crime based on comments and actions made by the suspects towards the victim because of sexual orientation and race. The victim had approached a group of workers near a local hardware store and attempted to sing to the group. A verbal altercation ensued, which resulted in three suspects throwing items at the victim while shouting racial and sexual orientation slurs. One of the suspects then produced a knife and threatened the victim before the group fled. The suspects were not located.
#2020-242800/North Precinct/Third Watch:
On 8-17-2020 at 2030 hours, officers were dispatched to the report of a robbery suspect returning to the store from an incident earlier in the day. Primary officer was advised of suspect description and attempted to detain suspect. Suspect took fighting stance and stated he wasn’t going to be arrested. Officer requested additional units and followed the suspect in vehicle as he walked. When additional units arrived, they attempted to take the suspect into custody, but the suspect fought with officers and bit one in the forearm. Suspect was taken into custody and transported to Harborview Medical Center. One officer was also transported to HMC for exposure. Another officer was transported to HMC for injured fist. Suspect was subsequently booked into the King County Jail.
#2020-242846/East Precinct/Third Watch:
On 8-17-2020 at 2207 hours, there was a vehicle collision at an East Precinct intersection. Two occupants were injured and transported to Harborview Medical Center.
