#2020-247548/North Precinct/Third Watch:

On 8-23-2020 at 0020 hours, officers responded to an arson in the 4500 block of 1 AV NE. An unknown suspect lit paper food bags on fire then placed the bags onto construction material outside of an occupied residence. There was minor damage to the residence caused by the fire. Approximately half a block north, another fire was set to a fence and a table adjacent to the fence. 

#2020-247627/Southwest Precinct/Third Watch: 

On 8-23-20 at 0233 hours, officers responded to the 9400 blk of 27 Ave SW to the report of a physical fight. Upon arrival they found multiple people attempting to restrain a highly intoxicated female. When officers arrived, the situation began to de-escalate, but the intoxicated female suddenly assaulted her sister in front of police. During the struggle to arrest her, one officers was punched causing a cut inside his mouth. A second officer received an abrasion to his arm. The suspect was ultimately arrested and transported to the King County Jail. She was booked for investigation of assault on officer. 

#2020-247679/South Precinct/First Watch:

On 8-23-2020 at 0532 hours, a man was returning home after dropping his wife off at work when a suspect approached, pulled out a pistol and demanded the man’s wallet and pocket contents. The victim was able to knock the gun out of suspect’s hand. The gun fired upon hitting the ground. The victim and the suspect then got into a physical altercation. The suspect was able to get the gun, move across the street, fire a second shot, then flee on foot northbound. Victim stated he could not ID suspect if located. Roving patrol area search negative. 

#2020-247801/South Precinct/First Watch:

On 8-23-2020 at 1010 hours, a male was walking down the street when a vehicle pulled up, stopped and the driver exited.  The driver asked the man, “How’s it going?”  The man replied, “Alright.”  The driver then called the man a homophobic slur and struck him on the right side of his head with a bag, causing pain & injury. The suspect then got back into his compact sedan and drove away. The Seattle Fire Department responded, treated & released the victim.  Due to the unprovoked bias comment and assault, a full investigation for hate crime was completed. 

#2020-247876/North Precinct/Second Watch:

On 8-23-2020 at 1230 hours, SPD Harbor Patrol received a distress call on the VHF radio from a passing boater in the Montlake Cut that a small motor vessel had capsized and two people were in the water. Officers responded and upon arrival were able to retrieve the two people from the water, and then tow their capsized vessel to the nearest dock so commercial salvage could be completed. 

#2020-248278/South Precinct/Second Watch:

On 8-23-2020 at 1716 hours, officers responded to a call of a suspicious fire in a dumpster in the area of the 3800 blk. of Rainier Av S. Upon arrival, officers spoke with Seattle Fire personnel who had already put the fire out and had called a Fire Marshal, due to recent arson activity in the immediate area. An unknown male was seen throwing an unknown item into the dumpster after the fire had started and attempted to assist SFD personnel with putting out the fire. The individual left the scene prior to officers’ arrival. 

#2020-248100/South Precinct/Second Watch:

on 8-23-2020 at 1748, officers responded to a shooting call in the Othello Park neighborhood. The call stated that multiple shots were heard on the east side of Othello Park followed by multiple persons fleeing the area on foot and in vehicles. Upon arrival, officers located a scene in the middle of the road as well as witnesses to the incident. Officers located a small pool of blood, presumably from a shooting victim. While officers were processing the scene, they received a report that a shooting victim had been dropped off at Swedish-Cherry Hill Hospital. Officers responded to the scene and determined that the individual had been involved in the incident at Othello Park. The victim was being treated for a single non-life threatening gun shot wound to the leg. The victim was intoxicated and refused to give his name to officers. 

#2020-248329/North Precinct/Third Watch:

On 8-23-2020 at 2355 hours, officers were dispatched to an armed robbery at a marijuana dispensary in the 10500 block of Greenwood Av N. Officers arrived and conducted an area check, but the suspects were gone. After initial investigation, officers learned one suspect was a 5’8″ male, armed with a semiautomatic handgun. The armed suspect was wearing a black jacket, a gray sweatshirt, and black Adidas sweatpants. The caller also informed officers that he believes it was the same suspects that robbed the dispensary on 08-08-20. 

#2020-248263/West Precinct/Third Watch:

On 8-23-2020 at 2147 hours, reports came in of an explosion heard at the intersection of Marion and Western. SPD and Seattle Fire units arrived and located several sewer covers smoking and one approximately 400lb cover displaced from the manhole. SFD reported an underground electrical vault fire and requested SPD clear pedestrians and motorist and create a one block perimeter in the event that pressure build up from the fire should force any additional sewer covers into the air. SFD pumped CO2 into the vault to suppress the fire. City Light arrived and took over the scene. No injuries or property damage were reported.
