#2020-265902/South Precinct/First Watch:
On 9-13-2020 at 0340 hours, Seattle Fire and South Patrol personnel responded to a vehicle fire at 10005 Rainier Ave. S. Two vehicles were involved and the Fire Marshal determined that an accelerant was used to start the fire. Firefighters on a responding engine company noted a subject riding a bicycle NB on Rainier with a can of gas. Officers subsequently contacted that suspect and requested the Arson Bomb Squad. ABS interviewed the suspect at the scene and again at the South Precinct after contacting the clerk of a nearby gas station. The suspect was booked into the King County Jail on investigation of Arson.
#2020-265904/West Precinct/First Watch:
On 9-13-2020 at 0343 hours, a business owner called 911 to report a burglar in his closed and locked business. He was watching the suspect with a Ring camera. Officers arrived and contained the building. After 45 minutes a woman yelled for 911 down the street and two officers went to check on the disturbance. The suspect took the opportunity to escape but was met by officers and was arrested for investigation of burglary.
#2020-266057/North Precinct/Second Watch:
On 9-13-2020 at 1037 hours, North Precinct personnel were dispatched to a suspicious item near the Greenlake soccer fields. Item was described as an 8-inch long pipe wrapped in duct tape with what looked like a burnt fuse coming out of one end. The Arson Bomb Squad was requested. Item was determined to be a poorly made sparkler bomb and was removed for disposal.
#2020-266160/West Precinct/Second Watch:
On 9-13-2020 at 1310 hours, a male was stabbed in the chest at the Denny Park encampment. The suspect fled from the scene, armed with a fixed-blade knife. Officers arrived and rendered aid to the victim. Victim was transported to Harborview Medical Center in critical condition, upgraded to stable awaiting surgery.
#2020-266274/West Precinct/Second Watch:
On 9-13-2020 at 1600 hours, 911 started to receive calls of a major pier collapse at Pier 58 (1331 Alaskan Wy). SPD arrived and established unified command with Seattle Fire. Two patients were rescued from the water with minor to moderate injuries. Workers were cement cutters and demolition workers on wooden pier deck when it suddenly collapsed. Alaskan Way shut for some time due to collapse.
#2020-266293/West Precinct/Second Watch:
On 9-13-2020 at 1635 hours, several callers reported hearing shots fired at an encampment around 8 Ave S/S King St. Arriving officers located blood. Witnesses described an altercation before shots were fired in the air, likely from a revolver. No property damage or gun shot wound victims located. Scene processed by patrol.
#2020-266318/West Precinct/Second Watch:
On 9-13-2020 at 1710 hours, a Pioneer Square restaurant owner arrived to find two transients in his doorway. They refused to move. The suspect, a transient male, began making bias statements (anti-immigrant, white supremacist) toward the owner. Suspect proceeded to assault the owner of the restaurant with body force. Suspect arrested by patrol for suspicion of a Hate Crime.
#2020-266384/South Precinct/Second Watch:
On 9-13-2020 at 1840 hours, a white SUV, driven by an adult female, had just crossed the 1st South Bridge and was merging onto northbound E Marginal Wy S, when a black sedan, driven by an adult male, failed to stop for the red signal southbound on E Marginal Wy S. The vehicles collided in the intersection, killing the southbound male driver and causing life-threatening injuries to the northbound female. A third vehicle sustained some damage during the event.
#2020-266433/South Precinct/Third Watch:
On 9-13-2020 at 1948 hours, a motorcyclist, traveling at a high rate of speed, failed to navigate the curve in the road. The motorcycle went off the road striking a tree. Seattle Fire responded and began life saving measures. The motorcycle operator was transported to Harborview Medical Center via Medic 1 with life threatening injuries. A Drug Recognition Expert was contacted who conducted a DUI investigation and report.
#2020-266497/North Precinct/Third Watch:
On 9-13-2020 at 2130 hours, officers were dispatched to a shots-fired call on Aurora Av N. Multiple callers reported hearing shots in the area. Officers arrived and located evidence of a shooting in front of a marijuana dispensary. Officers also located a bullet hole in a nearby vehicle. An area check was conducted, no suspects, or victims were located.
