 #2020-300736/West Precinct/Second Watch:

On 10-22-2020 at 1351 hours, a woman was leaving her parking spot in front of a restaurant when she mistook the gas for the brake and rapidly accelerated into the restaurant. Five patrons inside the restaurant were pinned under the vehicle as a result of the collision. Seattle Fire responded and transported the victims to HMC, two with life-threatening injuries. A Drug Recognition Expert evaluated the driver, no impairment was detected. 

#2020-300914/South Precinct/Second Watch:

On 10-22-2020 at 1717 hours, officers responded to the report of multiple shots fired in the area of a Safeway in the 9200 block of Rainier Ave S. Officers arrived and located a crime scene and victim in the 5100 block of S. Fischer Place which is adjacent to the Safeway. The victim sustained a serious gunshot wound to his leg. Patrol officers immediately began life saving measures which included applying a tourniquet to the victim’s leg. He was in stable condition upon arrival at Harborview. Detectives responded to the scene and recovered evidence from at least three different firearms. The victim’s vehicle was impounded at the scene. An area check for the suspect vehicle was negative. Detectives at Harborview were able to interview the victim prior to surgery. According to the victim, he had just left a local barbershop when heard multiple shots fired and fell to the ground with a gunshot wound to the leg. Witness accounts of the incident indicated that the shots were fired from a vehicle and were targeting the victim. Chief Diaz responded to the scene.
