Police Arrest Suspect in Monday Afternoon Downtown Stabbing

Police arrested a 27-year-old man in downtown Seattle on Monday after he stabbed a stranger on the street.

Shortly before 3:30pm, officers responded to 500 block of Olive Way to investigate the stabbing.  The victim reported he was walking on the sidewalk when a man, who he did not know, attacked him. The 33-year-old victim said he initially thought the suspect had punched him in the neck, but he soon realized he was bleeding. The victim began following the suspect as he called 911. When officers arrived, the victim identified the 27-year-old suspect and police arrested him.

Officers provided aid to the victim before SFD arrived. Medics transported him to the hospital in stable condition.

Police found a pocket knife on the suspect and booked him into the King County Jail for felony assault. The suspect also has a Department of Corrections felony warrant for escape from community custody.

This case is unrelated to another fatal stabbing earlier in the day in the Belltown neighborhood.
