#2021-108390/West Precinct/First Watch:

On 05-04-2021 at 0745 hours, SPD Patrol, Seattle Fire and the SPD’s Arson Bomb Squad responded to reports of an apartment fire. An SFD fire marshal determined the occupant of the apartment set several small fires inside his unit, causing mostly water damage from the suppression system. It was also determined the citizen was in crisis and would be transported to Harborview Medical Center for a mental health evaluation. ABS will handle any follow-up.

#2021-107762/North Precinct/Second Watch:

On 05-04-2021 at 1200 hours, SPD detectives developed probable cause to arrest a suspect known as the “Shaggy Bandit” for a series of bank robberies in Seattle. He was located at an apartment in Kent. Seattle PD Robbery Unit detectives responded to the apartment and along with Kent PD and FBI task force members maintained surveillance while SPD SWAT responded. As a plan was being formulated to arrest the suspect he exited on foot and was taken into custody with no issues.

#2021-108797/Southwest Precinct/Second Watch:

On 05-04-2021 at 1512 hours, officers respond to a female in crisis. According to the 911 call there was an active disturbance. Several officers arrived and made contact with the subject. During the interaction, the subject assaulted a family member and two officers. None of the victims were transported to the hospital. The subject was arrested and booked into King County Jail for investigation of assault.

#2021-108951/North Precinct/Second Watch:

On 05-04-2021 at 1756 hours, officers located a felony warrant suspect who was wanted on a felony warrant for DV Assault and Unlawful Possession of a Firearm. The suspect was placed into custody without incident. Search incident to arrest, officers located a loaded .40 caliber Glock and multiple baggies of narcotics on the suspect and in his backpack. A records check of the Glock showed it was a stolen firearm out of Coeur d’Alene. The suspect was booked into the King County Jail for VUCSA with intent to deliver, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Possession of a Stolen Firearm, and the felony warrant.

#2021-109099/South Precinct/Third Watch:

On 05-04-2021 at 2129 hours, two suspects stole multiple items from Safeway. Security for the store confronted the shoplifters and attempted to get the product back. A third suspect ran interference. The first 2 suspects got into a car. The driver of the car pointed a handgun at the security officer. The suspects fled with an estimated $45 worth of product.

#2021-109114/North Precinct/Third Watch:

On 05-04-2021 at 2157 hours, officers responded to a restaurant after staff called and stated a male had come in and handed them what appeared to be a homemade firework. Staff stated the male said “this is for you guys. It would be fun to light. Take a few steps back.” The male then left in an unknown direction. The staff did not take the male’s action as a threat in anyway, nor did the male attempt to light the firework. They stated they called because they did not know how to dispose of the homemade firework. Officers took possession of the firework. The SPD’s Arson Bomb Squad responded and took control of the homemade firework.
