#2021-112911/West Precinct/Third Watch:
On 05-09-2021 at 0026 hours, officers were investigating a robbery call when an uninvolved party attempted to interject himself into the scene. He was told to back away, refused to do so and was subsequently escorted away. The suspect responded by slapping the officer’s hand away. The officer stepped away and attempted to go back to the robbery investigation only to have the suspect again try to interject himself. He was escorted away a second time and slapped the officer’s hand/arm a second time. He was subsequently placed under arrest for assault on an officer. The officer was not injured.
#2021-112998/West Precinct/First Watch:
On 05-09-2021 at 0350 hours, a male victim was parked, sitting in his vehicle when the suspect approached, pulled him out, said he was a police officer, threw him on the ground, and left with the vehicle. Officers attempted to track the vehicle with the victim’s app, but it was unsuccessful. They also contacted the vehicle’s roadside assistance, but it was unable to be tracked. No injuries were sustained.
#2021-113020/West Precinct/First Watch:
On 05-09-2021 at 0516 hours, officers responded to a report of a commercial alarm call in and saw the business had been broken into. Later in the day, the business owner was driving around and saw the burglary suspect based on the security video of the suspect. The business owner saw the suspect selling the stolen cigarettes and called 911. Officers made contact with reporting party and arrested the suspect. Same suspect was arrested in the North Precinct on 05/02/21 for burglary (2021-106636).
#2021-113081/North Precinct/First Watch:
On 05-09-2021 at 0800 hours, Seattle Fire responded to a small debris fire behind the location. Sometime later, SFD returned to extinguish another, now larger fire, in the same location. At the time of this report it is unknown if the second fire was a new event, or a rekindle from the first incident. According to locals, this area is commonly occupied by transients. Two separate fires were also set a few blocks away (21-113091) causing damage to an office building. The SPD’s Arson Bomb Squad responded and is investigating both incidents.
#2021-113386/West Precinct/Second Watch:
On 05-09-2021 at 1610 hours, witnesses observed the suspect lighting his clothing and other unknown items on fire atop the wooden dock, causing damage. The fire was quickly extinguished by witnesses and Seattle Fire. Patrol located and arrested the suspect for Reckless Burning in the 1st Degree. The SPD’s Arson Bomb Squad Detectives responded to the scene to aid with the investigation.
#2021-113425/East Precinct/Second Watch:
On 05-09-2021 at 1700 hours, officers in the area around 23 Av S and S Jackson St on-viewed a male brandishing a handgun while walking around the parking lot yelling at several people. Additional units responded and contacted the male, who dropped the firearm. The suspect then ran from officers and entered a nearby business. Officers were able to locate the suspect and he was taken into custody. The suspect, a convicted felon, was arrested and booked for the unlawful possession of the firearm and VUCSA. The suspect’s vehicle was impounded pending a search warrant.
#2021-113530/South Precinct/Third Watch:
On 05-09-2021 at 1914 hours, an unknown subject prowled a parked car. In order to enter the car, the suspect shot out the window. He stole a diaper bag. The suspect was confronted by a neighbor (also armed). Words were exchanged and the suspect turned towards the neighbor, gun in hand. The neighbor fired a shot at the suspect, missing him. The suspect fled the area. Patrol processed the scene. No shell casings were located.
#2021-113603/West Precinct/Third Watch:
On 05-09-2021 at 2040 hours, the suspect was the resident of a shelter in Belltown. He threatened to cause bodily harm to an employee of the shelter while using racial slurs to address the victim/employee. No incident had occurred prior to the threats, and there were no evident motivations for the suspect to make the threats against the victim other than the victim’s race. The suspect was arrested for Malicious Harassment. While being escorted out of the shelter by officers the suspect shouted slurs at the victim that were directed at the victim’s perceived sexuality by the suspect. The suspect was booked into the King County Jail for malicious harassment.
#2021-113628/East Precinct/Third Watch:
On 05-09-2021 at 2110 hours, officers responded to a burglary and located the suspect nearby. A short foot pursuit occurred during which the suspect struck an officer causing a minor injury. The suspect was taken into custody without incident. He was booked into the King County Jail for investigation of Assault and investigation of Burglary. Seattle Fire responded and treated the officer at the scene.
