#2021-126011/South Precinct/Third Watch:

On 05-23-2021 at 0003 hours, Seattle Fire and a fire marshal requested SPD Patrol assistance for an arson investigation in the North Beacon Hill neighborhood. A stolen vehicle (local stolen) was destroyed by fire. The heat from the fire melted two parked vehicles and a house siding. There was no suspect or witness. Fire marshal notified SPD Arson Bomb Squad. Patrol and fire marshal processed the scene.

#2021-126102/East Precinct/Third Watch:

On 05-23-2021 at 0258 hours, officers responded to a report of a female screaming for assistance. Officers arrived and observed multiple males fighting on the sidewalk. Officers conducted an investigation and developed probable cause to arrest a suspect who stole a victim’s phone, destroyed it, and used bias language toward the victim, causing the victim to believe the incident was motivated by the how the suspect perceived the victim’s sexual orientation. The suspect was booked for Hate Crime, Robbery, and property destruction. Bias crimes alert email sent.

#2021-126136/East Precinct/First Watch:

On 05-23-2021 at 0442 hours, officers responded to a car prowl in a secured building. Security contacted two suspects who he believed had broken into several cars. During the contact, security held onto the female suspect while he was calling the police. While doing this, the male suspect grabbed a rifle and pointed it at the security guard and threatened to kill him if he did not let go of the female suspect. Both parties then fled in a blue sedan.

#2021-126158/West Precinct/First Watch:

On 05-23-2021 at 0536 hours, Seattle Fire requested SPD respond to area of 2 Av S / S Jackson St for a person lighting fires. Upon arrival, officers located a suspect nearby, who was actively lighting a fire to some debris. The suspect was detained, and probable cause was developed, including nearby fire damage to a building. The suspect was booked into the King County Jail for Investigation of Arson and Investigation of Malicious Mischief.

#2021-126217/Southwest Precinct/First Watch:

On 05-23-2021 at 0835 hours, a 2017 Toyota Rav4 was southbound on Olson PL SW. As the 84-year-old male driver approached 3 Ave SW, it appears he had a medical emergency and drifted onto the curb and struck a light pole. The seat belted driver was found to be unconscious and lifesaving efforts by Seattle Fire were unsuccessful. The damage to his vehicle was minor in this slow speed collision. No other vehicles were involved.

#2021-126275/West Precinct/First Watch:

On 05-23-2021 at 1030 hours, officers were flagged down regarding a subject in crisis hanging over the railing on Olive Way with one hand on his cellphone. Officers contacted the subject and attempted to coax him back over the railing. Officers recognized that the subject was fixated with live-streaming the incident and had no interest in receiving assistance from officers. Officers immediately called for additional resources (CIT and Hostage Negotiation Team) and coordinated with WSP to partially close S/B I5 and Olive Wy for about 1.5 hours. After a lengthy conversation, WSP HNT and SPD HNT were able convince the subject to come back over the railing. The subject was transported to Harborview Medical Center via AMR for an evaluation without incident.

#2021-126543/West Precinct/Second Watch:

On 05-23-2021 at 1714 hours, officers responded with Seattle Fire to a report of an assault at 420 4 Av, across from Courthouse Park. One of the responding officers used Dilling Way, on the south side of Courthouse Park, to get to 4 Ave. This officer was surrounded by a hostile crowd from the park including a female who draped herself over the push bar of the patrol vehicle. The vehicle was surrounded, trapping the officer inside. Fifteen additional officers responded to the scene to get the officer and vehicle extracted from the crowd. Separate from the aggressive crowd, officers determined the assault victim from the shelter had already been transported to a hospital via AMR. The primary officer responded to the hospital to investigate the assault. The two incidents were not related. Assault/Robbery Incident #2021-126542. Disturbance/Demo Incident #2021-126609.

#2021-126673/West Precinct/Third Watch:

On 05-23-2021 at 2000 hours, patrol was dispatched to reports of a suspicious package. Upon arrival, officers observed the items, secured the scene, and notified the Arson Bomb Squad. ABS detectives responded and rendered the items safe.

#2021-126724/Southwest Precinct/Third Watch:

On 05-23-2021 at 2045 hours, suspect(s) entered a private residence and attempted to rob a person who was inside. The intended robbery victim was assaulted during the incident. The suspect(s) were not located.
