On 06-24-2021 at 0545 hours, officers were escorting a suspect from the Southwest Precinct holding cell to a waiting patrol car for transport to the King County Jail. The suspect was under arrest for assault and property damage involving a neighbor. The suspect was uncooperative, verbally abusive, and exhibited passive resistance towards officers, by dropping body weight and slumping to the door jam and then the ground adjacent to the patrol car. The suspect refused to get into the passenger compartment of the patrol car, at one point turning away from officers while simultaneously grabbing for an officer’s utility belt. The suspect grabbed the officers groin area and “squeezed” causing transient pain. The officer is recovering. A decision was made to have the suspect transported to KCJ via AMR. A hazard report was completed.

On 06-24-2021 at 0811 hours, a suspect boarded a 32 foot boat that belongs to the Argosy Cruise Company and was able to start it up and steal it, after ramming the dock. A tracking device allowed the boat owner to provide current location information. Several agencies were notified, including the U.S. Coast Guard. Jefferson County ultimately located the boat. As U.S. Coast Guard personnel attempted to board the vessel, the suspect claimed he had hostages and explosives on board. He was ultimately taken into custody without incident and these statements were proven false. Seattle PD provided documentation support only, and did not have direct involvement with the vessel recovery or apprehension of the suspect.

On 06-24-2021 at 2106 hours, officers responded to reports of a drive-by shooting at the intersection of Rainier Ave S / S Henderson St. Officers arrived to find evidence of a shooting in the roadway, but no victims were located. A short while later, a silver Jeep dropped off an adult male victim at Harborview Medical Center (HMC). This was one of the same transport vehicles from yesterday’s triple shooting (#2021-156744). The victim sustained gunshot wounds (GSWs) to his groin/abdomen and shoulder but appears in stable condition. Witnesses reported that a gold or blue sedan shot at a gold Tahoe. The sedan possibly fled EB on S Henderson St, while the Tahoe fled WB. The driver of the silver Jeep then picked up the victim, at an undisclosed location, and drove him to HMC. The victim was unable to identify who shot at him. Gun Violence Reduction Unit (GVRU) Detectives processed the shooting scene and responded to HMC, to inspect the silver Jeep. The driver provided consent to search her vehicle, but nothing of evidentiary value was located. GVRU will handle follow up responsibilities.
