#2021-191431/North Precinct/Third Watch:
On 07-27-2021 at 0112 hours, a local business clerk was forced to the ground at gunpoint while the business was robbed by three suspects. The suspects ran from the scene toward Green Lake and out of sight. Evidence was recovered at the scene. Residents provided vague descriptions but couldn’t say if a vehicle was utilized to escape. K-9 responded but due to a time delay, the lack of officers for containment, and the lack of officers to run with the K9 team, a track was not attempted. Area checks were completed, and a canvas of the area was done.
#2021-191458/Southwest Precinct/Third Watch:
On 07-27-2021 at 0208 hours, officers responded to the 3200 block of SW Avalon Way to investigate an armed robbery of a business. Three suspects entered the business and two displayed firearms. Cash and cigarettes were taken. The suspects fled the area on foot prior to officers arriving. Patrol resources conducted an area check with negative results. Robbery was notified of the incident.
#2021-191879/North Precinct/Second Watch:
On 07-27-2021 at 1305 hours, a male suspect took a phone and tried to leave the store (T-Mobile). Manager confronted him about stealing the phone. Suspect took a black handgun from his waistband and pointed it at all the customers and staff in the store telling everyone to “get back.” The suspect then fled. Witnesses believed the suspect got into a white van bearing Arizona plates that fled N/B on Union Bay place. Evidence was collected.
#2021-191953/West Precinct/Second Watch:
On 07-27-2021 at 1442 hours, the victim was providing lunch to the suspect when the suspect suddenly became verbally aggressive with no provocation. The suspect threw the lunch bag provided by staff back at them. The suspect then made punching motions toward the victim as he moved to close the barrier at the service window. At this time, the suspect yelled out a homophobic remark. Victim remained at work where officers contacted him. Suspect was placed under arrest with the assistance of the Hostage Negotiation Team (HNT).
#2021-192090/Southwest Precinct/Second Watch:
On 07-27-2021 at 1656 hours, officers responded to Westcrest Park for 5 subjects in a physical fight. Upon arrival, witnesses told officers they heard multiple people fighting just north of her van and then saw an older silver Mercedes Benz sedan with a broken windshield drive out of the parking lot’s exit. One witness said she then heard multiple gunshots. The same witness told officers that the male passenger of a silver older Mercedes Benz with a broken windshield was a person shown in Crime Watch for alleged catalytic converter thefts. Evidence of a shooting was collected and submitted. No victim or suspects located at the time of this SIR.
#2021-192387/West Precinct/Third Watch:
On 07-27-2021 at 2323 hours, patrol responded to assist Seattle Fire treating a man for minor burns thought to be the result of an explosion. The SPD’s Arson Bomb Squad (ABS) was requested and also responded. After questioning the man and examining the scene, it was the conclusion of the investigators that a small vapor explosion occurred in the passenger compartment of the pick-up truck causing significant damage. The man stated he was in the process of cleaning his truck with Lysol and alcohol based sanitizer when he decided to light a cigarette, which immediately ignited the vapors contained within the cab. The man was identified and released from the scene. ABS will handle any necessary follow-up.
