#2021-229005/North Precinct/First Watch:
On 09-02-2021 at 0340 hours, officers on-viewed a male in crisis waving a kitchen knife on the sidewalk. The subject refused to drop the knife and would not speak with officers. He continued walking for approx. three blocks as traffic was stopped and officers kept their distance (on-duty Hostage Negotiation Team was enroute). The subject was eventually persuaded to drop the knife with a pack of cigarettes, and he was taken into custody without incident. Subject transported to Ballard Swedish via AMR for an ITA.
#2021-229056/West Precinct/First Watch:
On 09-02-2021 at 0559 hours, a victim vehicle was parked in a secure garage, and the suspect broke out a window of the vehicle. The victim is a reserve Deputy with an out of state police agency but is in Seattle for employment as a security guard. The suspect removed a backpack that contained keys to a diamond plate lock box located inside the vehicle. The suspect then opened this box and removed the contents, including a .556 Caliber Anderson AR-15 rifle, soft shell body armor carrier with body armor, a “military style” plate carrier with hard plates, a duty belt equipped with an expandable baton, pepper spray, and Byrna less lethal pepper-ball gun. Additionally, there were two Glock 19 magazines loaded in the belt. The victim indicated that all the missing items are personal property. An area search for items were unsuccessful.
#2021-229288/West Precinct/Second Watch:
On 09-02-2021 at 1045 hours, the Crisis Response Team was monitoring a delusional subject in crisis who expressed ideations of suicide by cop. The theme of his delusions involved a local sport team and stadium. The subject eventually drove to the stadium, where he confronted security and threatened to climb the fence to initiate a suicide by cop. As CRT attempted to form a contact team the subject approached them first. Immediately upon contact, the subject attempted to flee. CRT officers detained the subject because he was an imminent danger to himself and others. The ITA detention resulted in a Type II use of force. One officer sustained minor injuries. CRT worked with DCRs to ensure the subject was detained at the hospital.
#2021-229332/North Precinct/Second Watch:
On 09-02-2021 at 1131 hours, SPD officers received information from Bellevue Police detectives that a suspect wanted for an armed takeover robbery of a pharmacy in Bellevue may be inside a vehicle. Officers confirmed the probable cause for arrest with a detective and viewed a photo of the suspect from the robbery first. Then they developed a plan to safely take the suspect into custody. They next transported the suspect to the North Precinct where Bellevue PD arrived to take custody of the suspect for questioning and booking. This suspect has two prior robbery convictions and was also wanted by the Kittitas County Sheriff’s Office at the time of the arrest.
#2021-229932/East Precinct/Third Watch:
On 09-02-2021 at 2153 hours, officers responded to a grocery store for a reported armed robbery with a knife. Dispatch provided a suspect description and officers located a possible suspect a few blocks away. The primary officers drove the witness to the scene and confirmed the suspect’s description, giving the officers Probable Cause to arrest for investigation of robbery. The suspect was later found to have a no bail fugitive warrant out of Washington County Sheriff’s Office in Oregon for failing to appear for the following series of crimes: Robbery, Assault, Resisting Arrest, Eluding and more.
