#2021-244341/West Precinct/Third Watch:
On 09-17-2021 at 0056 hours, officers were flagged down by club security in the 300 block of 2 AV South. Security was fighting with 3 suspects. During the arrest of the suspects, one suspect attempted to kick a kneeling officer and subsequently did kick another officer in the leg. All three suspects were booked into jail, one of which was booked for assault on an officer. Screened with an on-duty lieutenant.
#2021-244403/West Precinct/First Watch:
On 09-17-2021 at 0320 hours, officers responded to the 1300 block of 1 Ave for a stabbing. Upon arrival, officers located a victim with a laceration to his back. Seattle Fire responded and transported him to Harborview Medical Center for treatment. Victim was in stable condition. It was determined this victim was part of a 10-15 person brawl at 2 Av/ Pike St. The victim was unwilling or unable to provide suspect information or motive. The victim had a hatchet and knife on his person. An additional caller reported being hit in the head with a bottle as part of the same brawl. The other participants in the fray are currently unidentified.
#2021-244458/West Precinct/First Watch:
On 09-17-2021 at 0551 hours, officers responded to Interbay Place for a 911 hang-up. Upon arrival, officers learned that the suspect called victim 1 an offensive bias term that referenced the victim’s gender identity and threatened to kill them. Victim 2 then confronted the suspect, and the suspect pointed a handgun at victim 2 and threatened to kill him, and then ran off. The suspect was not located but is likely to return to the location in the future. All parties are residents of the Interbay Place and have a history with each other. Notifications made.
#2021-244744/West Precinct/Second Watch:
On 09-17-2021 at 1051 hours, a demonstration formed in the area of 4th Ave and Pike St. The group had three vehicles with them and shutdown north bound traffic on 4th Ave and took to the street with their signs and props. Some of the people entered the Chase bank to the west and the Bank of America to the east. As officers arrived, warnings were given to the subjects inside the buildings, and they left after the final warning that arrests were going to happen. The subjects blocking the street communicated with scene command during the incident. After they were warned that citations and tows were coming for the vehicles and then a final warning for the people in the street would be given, they broke down some of their props and big signs then moved into Westlake park and remained for a bit then dispersed.
#2021-244803/West Precinct/Second Watch:
On 09-17-2021 at 1156 hours, Seattle Fire responded to an injured person in an apartment building on Rainier Ave. S. The victim had a serious hand injury sustained when a large firework detonated inside his friend’s apartment. The victim wanted to leave before police arrived, but SFD convinced him to go to Harborview Medical Center with them. The suspect and victim had left the firework on a counter too close to a hot stove. When they saw/heard the fuse ignite they panicked and tried covering it with towels to unsuccessfully prevent it from going off. The victim was holding a towel on it when it did, thus injuring his hand. According to a neighbor, both parties had been using drugs all night. The resident came out and allowed officers into his unit to examine the scene. SPD’s Arson Bomb Squad responded but there were no other fireworks and no significant property damage, plus an unwilling victim. No arrest was made.
#2021-244872/West Precinct/Second Watch:
On 09-17-2021 at 1340 hours, a suspect walked up to a victim and punched her in the head. The victim attempted to run away but the suspect chased after her. As the suspect caught up to the victim, the suspect shoved the victim off the sidewalk directly in front of an approaching Metro bus. The victim fell to the ground in the street, and the bus was able to stop, inches from striking the victim. Bystanders intervened and held the suspect until officers arrived. Officers took the suspect into custody and book him into KCJ for Assault 2. The victim suffered minor injuries. Lt. and Homicide were notified.
#2021-244903/South Precinct/Second Watch:
On 09-17-2021 at 1424 hours, officers responded to an in-progress Burglary at an RV. Three subjects were seen slashing tires with knives and trying to force entry. All three subjects fled upon arrival of PD. Patrol was able to apprehend one of the suspects who attempted to slough a handgun. The handgun was recovered. While there, officers observed the RV on fire. Officers and Seattle Fire extinguished the fire. A witness came forward and described the in-custody subject as the one carrying a gas can while one of the individuals who fled as being the one who started the fire. The RV was not occupied at the time of the fire. Fire Marshal responded along with SPD’s Arson Bomb Squad (ABS). The subject in custody was not interviewed as he was convulsing and transported to Harborview Medical Center. He was later identified as being a convicted felon with a DV Warrant. He will be booked on VUFA when cleared while ABS will conduct the follow-up on the Arson.
