Police seized 15,000 fentanyl pills at a downtown hotel Thursday after a man left a duffel bag of drugs behind after checking out. Officers arrested the man shortly after he returned to the hotel to try and collect his bag.
A housekeeper at a downtown hotel notified her manager on Thursday that she had found a duffle bag inside a room that she was preparing for the next guests. The manager opened the bag to try and identify the owner, and discovered a large number of pills inside.
Staff called police and officers arrived and took custody of the bag and pills. As they were preparing to enter the pills into evidence, they received another call from the hotel. The manager told them that the owner of the bag had just called and was coming back to pick it up.
Police arrived back at the hotel and took the 23-year-old man into custody without incident.
