Officers arrested a 51-year-old man in Belltown Monday after he crashed his car into five vehicles, and drove through the front doors of a business, while under the apparent influence of drugs and alcohol.
Around 9:30 PM police received several 911 calls about a series of collisions involving a motorist in a white Toyota sedan.
The suspect first struck a vehicle near 4th Avenue and Cedar Street, continuing on to strike vehicles and motorists at Broad Street and Denny Way, and 2nd Avenue and Battery Street. He eventually came to a stop after crashing into the doors of a store at 2nd and Denny, where officers contacted him and took him into custody.
Officers arrested the 51-year-old man, who appeared to be under the influence of narcotics, alcohol, and marijuana. After taking him to Harborview for a blood draw, police booked him into the King County Jail for multiple counts of hit and run, DUI, and operating a motor vehicle in a negligent manner.
Several of the drivers struck by the suspect sustained minor injuries and were taken to Harborview Medical Center for treatment.
