Detectives are investigating after a motorist died in a single-car collision in Interbay early Friday morning.
At 2:21 a.m., police responded to a collision near 15th Avenue West and West Garfield Street. The driver of an SUV driving northbound on 15th Avenue West crossed into the southbound lanes and up onto the western sidewalk. She struck and knocked over a power pole and then crashed into a fence.
Seattle Fire Department Medics responded and attempted life-saving measures, but the 34-year-old driver was declared deceased at the scene. A front seat passenger was the only other occupant of the vehicle. Her injuries were minor and she did not require a trip to the hospital. The passenger told officers she believed the driver experienced a medical emergency at the time of the collision. The King County Medical Examiner will determine the cause of death.
Detectives from the Traffic Collision Investigation Squad responded to the scene and will continue to investigate.
