#2021-314442/North Precinct/Third Watch:
On 11-28-2021 at 0033 hours, reports of a burglary came out at 10322 Lake City Way Ne (Pet Pros). Upon arrival, officers located collision scene with woman screaming trapped in vehicle. Seattle Fire responded. Vehicle had been traveling at high rate of speed northbound on Lake City Way NE. At about 10300 Lake City Way, driver lost control and left roadway, sheering off a fire hydrant and taking out the front entrance of the Pet Pros. The vehicle continued through two fences before coming to a rest against the southern wall of the business to the north of the Pet Pros. At that point an unknown male with dark clothing entered the Pet Pros, stole unknown items, and then fled on foot past the screaming driver. There was only one occupant in the vehicle, and she sustained significant injuries to her legs. Seattle Fire extricated driver from vehicle and transported her to Harborview Medical Center. Traffic Collision Investigation Squad screened this incident.
#2021-314550/South Precinct/First Watch:
On 11-28-2021 at 0345 hours, King County Sheriff’s Office reported that one of their deputies had been shot at in Skyway. They further advised that the suspect vehicle was fleeing N/B on Renton Ave in South Seattle and were requesting Seattle Police assistance. Officers from South, Southwest, East and West Precincts responded to the request. KCSO utilized a pursuit ending tactic which caused the vehicle to become disabled on Rainier Ave S. The three suspects fled from the reported stolen vehicle in different directions. Seattle officers set up containment for a search including a K9 track and Guardian-1. One suspect was located and taken into custody by KCSO. Seattle Police provided traffic control while KCSO processed the scene.
#2021-314588/North Precinct/First Watch:
On 11-28-2021 at 0535 hours, a driver appeared to have had a medical emergency while traveling east on NE 75th St. His vehicle tire hit a curb, traveled sideways through a grassy area, clipped a couple of small trees, and finally came to rest. A citizen who heard the crash found the driver unresponsive but breathing at first. Seattle fire responded and attempted lifesaving efforts for an extended period of time. Traffic Collision Investigation Squad responded. Medical Examiner also responded and took custody of the body.
#2021-314999/South Precinct/Third Watch:
On 11-28-2021 at 1722 hours, an incident occurred at a Teriyaki restaurant. The suspect entered the restaurant without a mask. The cashier provided a mask to the suspect and asked that he wear it. The suspect refused and became angry at the cashier (victim). The suspect made some vague threats about coming back with a gun. The victim felt fearful for his life. The suspect also made racially derogatory slurs. The victim believed that this incident was motivated by a racial bias. The suspect left the area before police arrived. The incident was screened with Lt.
#2021-315013/East Precinct/Second Watch:
On 11-28-2021 at 1736 hours, multiple calls to 911 reported a suspect in the area of Denny Way & Melrose Av. smashing parked car windows with a 3′ pipe or “stick” and throwing things at traffic and screaming. The suspect eventually crossed over the I-5 overpass and was located at Denny & Stewart by officers. When they attempted to detain him, he resisted. An unrelated bystander, Suspect #2, approached and started yelling at the officers to leave him alone, getting up close to them and possibly trying to “un-arrest” the suspect. One of the property damage victims who had pointed out the suspect confronted this new suspect and yelled at him to “Leave the cops alone!” Suspect #2 found a 6′ piece of metal on the ground and brandished it at the witness, threatening to assault him with the jagged metal object. Officers requested more units, and this resulted in officers arriving. Both suspects were safely arrested without any reportable force and no officers were injured. Suspect #1 was booked for felony Malicious Mischief and Suspect #2 was booked for Felony Harassment (charges requested for Obstructing).
#2021-315025/South Precinct/Second Watch:
On 11-28-2021 at 1759 hours, officers responded to the drugstore located near Rainier Av S/ S Genesee St to a report of 5 shots being heard. Arriving officers received conflicting descriptions, but eventually found a near-by GMC, Yukon, WA BOT0984, with bullet damage. Due to conflicting statements from witnesses, it was undetermined what occurred.
#2021-241574/West Precinct/Second Watch:
On 11-28-2021 at 1840 hours, officers arrested a wanted burglary suspect from a bulletin posted on 11-19-2021 and transported him to the West Precinct. Major Crimes Task Force (MCTF) Detectives responded to the Precinct and interviewed the suspect. General Investigations Unit (GIU) & MCTF will handle the follow-up.
#2021-314830/Southwest Precinct/Third Watch: On 11-28-2021 at about 2019 hours, officers responded to the complainant’s residence to collect a bone that she had located while swimming near Alki Beach early this afternoon. The complainant was concerned that the bone was possibly human, so she recovered it from the water and notified police. Officers recovered the bone, photographed it, and turned it over to the King County Medical Examiner’s office for further analysis. The incident was screened with homicide. #2021-315189/South Precinct/Third Watch: On 11-28-2021 at 2243 hours, a call came in to 911 regarding a man on fire inside of a DESC building. DESC staff were unable to initially make entry into the victim’s room as the door was barricaded with the resident’s belongings, but they could see the resident from the partially opened doorway enough to determine the resident, as well as the interior of his apartment, was actively burning. Entry was eventually made, and the fire was put out via a fire extinguisher. An EMT-trained SPD officer was able to initiate patient assessment as well as hazards in the apartment that would impede Seattle fire. The EMT officer attempted to extract the victim from the burned-out apartment. Seattle Fire arrived as did Medic One. Fire Marshal arrived on scene and the victim was taken via medic unit to Harborview Medical Center. SPD’s Arson Bomb Squad was notified. |
