#2021-323576/East Precinct/Third Watch:

On 12-08-2021 at 0150 hours, officers responded to a call of a male trespassing in the courtyard of an apartment building in the 400 block of 11 Av E. Officers arrived and located the suspect, who was known previously to be hostile towards officers. The caller did not want contact and the suspect was, again, hostile toward officers so officers disengaged to de-escalate. As they were returning to their vehicles, the suspect suddenly produced a large hammer and charged at an officer with the hammer raised. The suspect was challenged by the officer, and he was eventually taken into custody with a Type II Use of Force for Felony Harassment. Hazard report completed.

#2021-323645/North Precinct/First Watch:

On 12-08-2021 at 0417 hours, according to evidence, an unknown suspect poured a path of liquid from a victim’s vehicle to the victim’s house. A neighbor saw the fire and called Seattle Fire, who was able to respond and put out the fire. The victim’s vehicle was a total loss with minimal damage to the house. SPD’s Arson Bomb Squad will conduct the follow-up.

#2021-323653/Southwest Precinct/First Watch:

On 12-08-2021 at 0433 hours, an incident occurred at HWY 99/Des Moines Memorial Dr S. The victim was driving Northbound on Hwy 99 to work, and he saw the suspect vehicle pulled over on the side of the freeway. The victim changed lanes, and the suspect vehicle caught up to the victim. The victim attempted to get away from the suspect vehicle. An unknown suspect shot two rounds at the victim while he was driving on HWY 99. The victim drove to his job and called 911. SPD officers recovered evidence of a shooting from the victim’s vehicle. Washington State Patrol responded and took primary on the incident.

#2021-323878/West Precinct/First Watch:

On 12-08-2021 at 0942 hours, a subject entered a bank in the International District and put on a mask as he approached the teller. The subject presented the teller with a note stating that he wanted all the money. The male subject did not display a weapon, but kept a hand in one pocket. The teller gave the suspect some cash from the register and activated the alarm. K9 was deployed to the scene. The incident was screened with SPD Robbery and the suspect photo was disseminated throughout the department.

#2021-323936/West Precinct/First Watch:

On 12-08-2021 at 1039 hours, a subject entered a grocery store in the International District and punched the manager in the face after the manager asked him to leave. Staff members were able to flag down King County Metro officers and the subject struck the King County Metro officer in the face. The subject was taken into custody without incident by SPD officers and transported to King County Jail.

#2021-324031/West Precinct/Second Watch:

On 12-08-2021 at 1238 hours, the Principal of a Seattle Public School called to report two students had shown her screen shots from another student’s social media accounts. Some of the images were violent and the principal felt they were motivated by race, and some showed pictures of school shooters with positive comments about them. One showed a school shooter and commented about how attractive he was. While the investigation unfolded, another incident was found to have occurred earlier in the day, where the suspect threatened another student with a knife while in the bathroom. An employee happened to walk into the bathroom in the middle of the incident, causing the suspect to hide the knife and leave. Officers developed Probable Cause for harassment and arrested the suspect, who was later booked into YSC. Bias crimes, Media, Intel, Seattle School Security, General Investigations, were all advised.

#2021-324229/North Precinct/Second Watch:

On 12-08-2021 at 1634 hours, officers were dispatched to an armed robbery at a business located in the 13700 block of Aurora Ave N. The suspect entered the business and requested to see a stereo amplifier. He advised that store employee that his budget was $800. Once he had the amplifier in hand, he lifted his shirt and exposed a handgun. The suspect then stated that he was suicidal and that he would kill everyone in the store before fleeing eastbound on the north side of the business with the item. The amplifier was worth about $2000. Robbery unit was notified of this incident.

#2021-324306/East Precinct/Third Watch:

On 12-08-2021 at 2117 hours, officers responded to a call with the description of: “GO WITH AMR FOR WELFARE CHECK ON MOTHER AND BABY 3MOS OF AGE MOTHER SAYS SHE’S GOING TO JUST DROP THE BABY OFF SOMEWHERE, NOTHING FURTHER.” After an investigation, officers determined the mother, who had admitted to smoking Methamphetamine with the 3-month-old in her presence earlier, was not fit to care for her child and was an immediate danger to the infant. She additionally admitted to not wanting the child anymore and was willing to drop it off somewhere. The child was taken into custody without court order and CPS was called. It was subsequently determined that the mother had an outstanding warrant for kidnapping, UNLAWFUL IMPRISONMENT, ROBBERY 2ND DEGREE, and THEFT OF MOTOR VEHICLE out of Seattle. She was placed into custody and transported to King County Jail for booking. The infant was eventually picked up by CPS.
