#2021-343469/West Precinct/Second Watch:

On 12-31-2021 at 1358 hours, a Metro bus struck a pedestrian at 4 Av / S Jackson St. A witness reported that he told the bus driver that a pedestrian had been struck by the bus and the bus driver closed the door and drove off. The pedestrian sustained significant / possible life-threatening injuries and was transported to Harborview Medical Center. The bus and driver were located approximately 6 hours later, and the driver is currently being evaluated by a DRE. The Investigation is ongoing. Screened with Traffic Collision Investigation Squad.

#2021-343616/West Precinct/Second Watch:

On 12-31-2021 at 1711 hours, a commercial truck driver drove up an icy hill and became stuck. The driver had to maintain pressure on the gas pedal to keep his truck from sliding downhill towards an occupied residential structure. Seattle Fire responded and assisted in securing the truck with obstructions behind his rear tires. SDOT called out deicing trucks and a large tow truck to the scene. The deicing and plowing allowed the truck driver to complete his trip up the hill. There were no collisions and no injuries during this incident. An on-duty Captain monitored.

#2021-343677/East Precinct/Second Watch:

On 12-31-2021 at 1835 hours, officers responded to a report of a gunshot victim dropped off at a marijuana dispensary. Officers made contact with the victim at that location who had suffered a gunshot wound to the chest. Officers secured the scene and brought Seattle Fire in to treat the victim. The victim reported to officers that he had been at an unknown location along Lake Washington when he had gotten involved in a road rage incident. The victim told officers that he had been shot by an assailant in the road rage. He said that friends had brought him to the dispensary, as he works security there, and then dropped him off a block away. The victim was transported by Medic One to Harborview Medical Center where he remains in critical condition. The Gun Violence Reduction Unit responded to assist with this investigation and to collect evidence. The Homicide Unit was also notified of the incident.

#2021-343734/West Precinct/Third Watch:

On 12-31-2021 at 1942 hours, an unknown suspect called the downtown Ross store stating that an explosive device would detonate in a fitting room within 20 minutes of the call. Officers arrived and assisted store security evacuating the customers and securing business. Officers then conducted a walk-thru with employees to attempt to locate anything suspicious, particularly in the fitting rooms. Nothing was found. There were no detonations after the threatened time had elapsed. SPD’s Arson Bomb Squad (ABS) was notified and determined that, based on the initial investigation, they would not need to respond. The store management decided to close for the remainder of the day. ABS will handle follow-up.

#2021-343920/North Precinct/Third Watch:

On 12-31-2021 at 2319 hours, officers responded to the area of 4500 25 Av NE regarding shots fired. The Reporting Party (RP), a retired law enforcement officer working overnight security at the location, heard several shots and from a distance observed a subject holding a handgun and firing into the air. The subject then fled the scene in an unknown direction. No evidence, property damage, or victims were located.
