#2022-009239/West Precinct/First Watch:

On 01-12-2022 at 0334 hours, officers were dispatched to the 400 block of Minor AV N regarding a male on the 5th floor acting erratically with a handgun. Upon arrival, officers were able to monitor the suspect via CCTV. The suspect movements indicated some level of tactical training as he appeared to be waiting to ambush someone, holding the handgun in low ready, and watching the corner. Officers contained the suspect and developed contingency plans. King County K9 responded. Hostage Negotiation Team and SWAT were en route. Officers made verbal contact with the suspect, and he appeared to hide the firearm and exit via a stairwell. The subject encountered a team of officers and was taken into custody without incident. Officers were unable to locate a victim of a crime and the handgun was an airsoft replica. The subject was transported to Swedish Hospital for an evaluation.

#2022-009447/Southwest Precinct/First Watch:

On 01-12-2022 at 1039 hours, subjects were demonstrating at the 9200 BLK of 8 Ave S. The subjects blocked a truck in, and the driver backed up to get some space. The truck pulled forward and lightly tapped the subjects who were blocking the truck. The subjects had video of the incident. The subjects showed the video to officers on scene. The subjects didn’t have any injuries and declined any medical treatment. I reviewed the video, but I didn’t see any evidence of an assault. The subjects waited an hour to report the incident to SPD as an assault. I spoke to the person in charge of the picket group and gave him my name and a case number.

#2022-009573/South Precinct/Second Watch:

On 01-12-2022 at 1406 hours, reports of falling concrete debris from SR99 NB On-ramp, were reported to 911. A 3×5 concrete patch panel lost structural integrity and started to crumble away. SRT closed the on-ramp while SDOT surveyed the roadway. SDOT provided a temporary fix and later reopened the roadway.

#2022-009805/Southwest Precinct/Third Watch:

On 01-12-2022 at 1950 hours, officers responded to an armed carjacking that occurred in the 6500 Block of 35 Av SW. Officers learned that two male suspects, one armed with a handgun, approached the victim on foot as he was leaving a local restaurant. The suspect pointed the gun at the victim and demanded his keys and wallet. Both suspects then fled in the victim’s white Acura ATL south on 35TH AVE SW. An area check was conducted but the suspects were not located. Screened with Robbery. No shots were fired, and no one was injured.

#2022-009816/Southwest Precinct/Third Watch:

On 01-12-2022 at 2011 hours, which is approximately 20 minutes after an armed carjacking (22-9805), officers responded to a robbery of a cannabis shop in SW Precinct. Three armed suspects entered the store and demanded product and money. The suspects then fled the scene with money and product. Containment was set up and a KCSO K9 responded and attempted a track, but the suspects were not located. Screened with Robbery. Patrol processed the scene. No shots were fired, and no one was injured. The description of one of the suspects matches that of the carjacking documented under 22-9805.

#2022-009921/West Precinct/Third Watch:

On 01-12-2022 at 2240 hours, unknown suspects committed an armed robbery, taking the victim’s vehicle.
