#2022-053330/North Precinct/First Watch:
On 03-03-2022 at 0615 hours, a maintenance worker discovered a suspicious package inside an underground parking structure. Attached to the package was a letter threatening police and law enforcement. Patrol responded, contained the area, and notified SPD’s Arson Bomb Squad (ABS). ABS was able to examine the package and render it safe. Detective will handle the follow-up for possible criminal charges.
#2022-054201/North Precinct/Third Watch:
On 03-03-2022 at 2241 hours, officers were dispatched to a no contact order violation with a shot fired. Upon arrival, officers contacted the victim who reported a male against whom he had an active no contact order came to his house and threw rocks at his windows breaking them. After breaking the windows, the suspect attempted to enter the house through the broken window while making statements to kill the victim. The victim, fearing for his life, fired one round which he described as a warning shot towards the ground causing the suspect to flee the scene. A check for the suspect came up empty. Evidence of a shooting was recovered.
#2022-054234/Southwest Precinct/Third Watch:
On 03-03-2022 at 2336 hours, officers responded to reports of shots heard in the area of 16 Ave SW and SW Holden St. Upon arrival officers conducted a search for evidence of a shooting, including questioning a nearby business. No eyewitnesses were present to provide additional information. Officers continued their search of the 7100-7500 block of 16 Ave SW. Broken glass from a vehicle and evidence of a shooting was recovered from the street in the 7300 block of 16 Ave SW. No property damage was located during the search at the time of this SIR. Report forwarded to Gun Violence Reduction Unit.
