Police are investigating after a man was shot outside a food bank in Ballard on Monday afternoon.
At 4:55 p.m., 911 callers reported a shooting near the intersection of 14th Avenue Northwest and Northwest Leary Way. Officers arrived and found a 53-year-old man with a gunshot wound to the abdomen. Seattle Fire Department medics transported the man to Harborview Medical Center in serious condition.
Police learned the victim and suspect appeared to know each other, and had been involved in an altercation that led up to the shooting. Witnesses reported the male suspect left on foot, so officers searched the area. The man was not found, but officers did recover video and ballistic evidence at the scene. Detectives will continue to investigate.
