SPD robbery detectives are searching for a group of suspects who stolen three cars at gunpoint in South Seattle and First Hill on Wednesday.
At 12:05 AM on Wednesday, the three suspects approached a man at a gas station in the 3800 block of Rainier Avenue South, pointed guns at the man, and stole his minivan. As the suspects drove away in the stolen van, they ripped the still-attached gas hose from the pump, striking the victim and knocking him to the ground.
Detectives believe the same suspects approached a man late Wednesday evening, just before 11 p.m., as he was getting out of his car at 13th Avenue South and South Judkins Street. The suspects pointed guns at the victim and demanded the keys to his vehicle. The suspects stole the car but were apparently unable to drive the victim’s manual transmission and fled, leaving the running vehicle behind.
Just under an hour later, the suspects approached a man in a parking lot in the 600 block of 9th Avenue, pointed a handgun at him, and stole his phone, wallet, and SUV.
Police have obtained surveillance images from the gas station incident and are hoping someone recognizes the three suspects. If you have any information, please contact the Robbery Unit at (206) 684-5535
