#2022-206396/East Precinct/Third Watch:
On 08-07-2022 at 0015 hours, during a legal blood draw pursuant to a DUI blood warrant, an uncooperative suspect sustained a bleeding cut on his forearm from the handcuffs. Type 2 Use of Force reporting initiated.
#2022-207346/West Precinct/Second Watch:
On 08-07-2022 at 1800 hours, a suspect entered a small grocery store and attempted to shoplift. The victim interrupted the theft and kicked the suspect out of the store. The suspect returned to the store, made a racially biased comment to the victim and spit in the victim’s face. Suspect was arrested and booked into KCJ for Hate Crime. Violent Crimes Section, Bias Crimes Coordinator, Homicide Detective Unit and Public Affairs Unit notified.
#2022-207659/West Precinct/Third Watch:
On 08-07-2022 at 2313 hours, an officer on patrol witnessed a passenger in a suspect vehicle fire a handgun into an encampment. The officer turned around and attempted to follow the vehicle onto I-5 but lost sight of the vehicle while turning around. Evidence of a shooting was recovered but no injuries or property damage were located.
