#2022-299949/North Precinct/Second Watch:

At 1710 hours, an Uber driver called 911 to report an assault by a passenger he had kicked out of the car 15 minutes earlier in the 4300 block of Roosevelt Way NE because of a disturbance inside the car even before the trip started. After officers interviewed him and a male witness, it was learned that a female suspect had met the male in the U-District to apply as a potential roommate. The male ended the meet when he thought something was “off” about her. In an effort to assist her with leaving he called an Uber for her. When she got in the Uber she was apparently mad about the driver smoking. She started yelling bias-based slurs at him. He pulled her bags out of the vehicle and she continued yelling at him and then grabbed a $20 tip (from a previous ride) out of a cup in the front. When he tried to stop her, she kicked him in the chest, causing pain. She fled on foot about 30 minutes prior to officers’ arrival. An area check was negative. The incident was screened for the potential bias but at this time it seemed as if the suspect’s actions were not motivated by a bias but her anger at being kicked out of the vehicle.

#2022-300016/West Precinct/Third Watch:
