#2022-306786/South Precinct/First Watch:
On 11-15-2022 at 0950 hours, a subject flooded her apartment again just as she did the day prior. Subject escalated the most recent event by breaking out one of her windows on the 2nd floor and throwing personal objects out the window. Building management was able to shut off the water. Subject refused to continue any dialogue, so officers entered the apartment to check her well-being. Team tactics used with less lethal & shield employed. Subject rushed toward the door to push officers out of the doorway, her hands were visible and empty. At this time, officers took custody of the subject. Subject was sent to a local hospital for evaluation with DCR since booking declines for crisis have been common. No reportable force.
#2022-306857/North Precinct/Second Watch:
At 1109 hours, officers responded to an in-progress call of a suspect inside a school, menacing students with a knife. The school was put in lockdown. Officers formed a contact team, entered the school, and located the suspect hiding behind a moveable wall on the building’s 3rd floor. Officers held a position at a distance of about 75-feet and placed barriers for shielding. Additional officers were directed to a stair landing below the suspect to limit his access to the remainder of the building. A single officer hailed the suspect and determined him to be in crisis. Through negotiation and de-escalation, the officer gained compliance and the suspect was taken into custody. Contact teams swept the area and confirmed the suspect was alone. Officers seized two weapons from the suspect, a large folding knife and a broomstick. Officers worked with staff to calm the students and explain what happened after lockdown. The suspect was booked for Unlawful Use of Weapons to Intimidate. A referral was also made to the Municipal Mental Health Court due to potential stimulant influence in this case and a long-standing history of substance use and mental health concerns.
#2022-307112/North Precinct/Second Watch:
At 1554 hours, officers were dispatched to the intersection of NW 43rd St and 8 Av NW regarding a tent fire. Upon arrival, officers located a tent on fire that was up against a commercial building. The fire from the tent spread to the building causing it to catch fire. The building sustained substantial damage. A large Seattle Fire response occurred, and Fire Marshal arrived on scene. SPD’s ABS advised. The cause of the fire has yet to be determined. No known injuries were reported.
#2022-307305/North Precinct/Third Watch:
At 2038 hours, three males with ski masks and gloves entered the Cannabis Store and produced handguns. They took cash, product, and an employee’s handbag. They then left and were last seen on foot southbound. Officers arrived and set up containment. K-9 tracked but it appeared they got into a vehicle about a block and half away. The incident was screened with Sgt from Robbery.
#2022-307319/North Precinct/Third Watch:
At 2056 hours, a suspect refused to leave a hospital. Security was escorting him out when he tried to go into a person’s room. The disturbance became physical. The suspect focused on one security guard and began calling him racial and other bigoted statements. The suspect bit the security guard on the hand and threatened to come back and kill them. The suspect was booked into KCJ. Required notifications made.
