Seattle Police officers in the North Precinct heard gun shots that sounded to be at their front door. Soon after, several calls from the community reported hearing shots in the 10000 block of College Way North near Licton Springs neighborhood.
When police arrived to investigate at approximately 00:30 a.m., officers located a man in the front parking lot of the North Precinct near the location of where the shots were heard. The man attempted to run from officers, but he was detained without incident.
As officers were taking the 26-year-old man into custody, he exclaimed he had a firearm in his front waistband. Police recovered the handgun from his waist.
Officers learned the suspect fired shots mid-block on North 103rd Street. Police searched the area but found no property damage, no injured subjects, or spent shell casings. Police later discovered the suspect moved the spent shell casings closer to the North Precinct parking lot.
Police also recovered additional spent shell casings, live rounds, theft tools, multiple sets of car keys, and narcotics paraphernalia during the search incident to arrest of the suspect.
Police arrested the suspect for unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful discharge of a firearm, obstruction, burglary tools, and his outstanding warrants for possession of a stolen motor vehicle. The suspect was booked into King County Jail.
