Police responded to a stabbing in the 600 block of 2nd Avenue Sunday night. Shortly after 7:00 p.m., officers arrived and found a 51-year-old male victim with multiple stab wounds.
Seattle Fire Department personnel arrived and provided first aid to the victim. The victim was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Officers learned the victim was leaving a hotel when an unknown male approached and demanded the victim’s phone. When the victim refused, the suspect stabbed him.
Police located the 42-year-old suspect in the 200 block of Cherry Street armed with a knife. The suspect scaled a fence and became trapped in the loading area of a local business.
Officers assigned to SPD’s Hostage Negotiation Team along with officers assigned to SPD’s SWAT Team arrived on scene to assist with the arrest. The suspect was taken into custody and will be booked into King County Jail for robbery, assault, and felony harassment.
