A shooting along the Aurora Avenue corridor ended with two guns recovered and a man arrested Thursday morning.
Just before 7:00 a.m., North Precinct officers responded to reports of two men shooting at each other in a business parking lot in the 11600 block of Aurora Avenue N. When police arrived, they did not find any victims but located evidence of a shooting in the parking lot and adjoining sidewalk.
An officer was flagged down by a witness who said he watched a man with an injury to his abdomen throw a bag into the bushes before walking away. The officer located the bag and found two loaded handguns inside. Additional units contacted the man and determined he had a grazing gunshot wound to his stomach.
Based on evidence recovered at the scene and witness statements, police developed probable cause and arrested the man for felony weapons violation. He was transported to a local hospital for treatment but refused further assistance.
Officers confirmed the 35-year-old suspect was a convicted felon and prohibited from having a handgun. He was taken to the King County Jail and booked for two counts of unlawful possession of a firearm.
Police did not locate the other person involved.
