Robber Armed with Knife Arrested in Phinney Ridge 

Yesterday morning, a man robbed at knifepoint for his wallet escapes unarmed with the help from a community member who intervenes on his behalf. 

Police arrived around 9:00 a.m. near the intersection of Aurora Avenue North and Winona Avenue North and found the robbery victim.  

The 34-year-old male victim reported he stopped at a nearby business to smoke a cigarette when an unknown man approached him with a knife demanding he hand over his wallet. The victim threw his wallet at the suspect’s feet and then ran towards Aurora Avenue North to be visible in case the situation became violent.  

A passerby in the area confronted the male suspect with some sort of tool, which caused the suspect to drop the victim’s wallet and run from the location eastbound on Winona Avenue North.  

Police searched for the suspect and located him near the intersection of West Green Lake Drive North and Stone Avenue North. He was detained and found to have a large kitchen knife in his possession.  

The victim positively identified the 61-year-old male suspect as the man who robbed him.  

The suspect was arrested for robbery and booked into King County Jail.
