#2023-316576/East Precinct/Second Watch:
At 1619 hours, the suspect was in a grocery store eating food he had not paid for when he was confronted by the victim (store security). When told by the victim he had to pay for his food before eating it, the suspect stuck the victim with food and spit on him. The suspect then made a bias statement to the victim and attempted to assault him. The two then got into a wrestling match and the other security guard intervened. Officers arrested the suspect at the scene.
#2023-316877/Southwest Precinct/Third Watch:
At 2100 hours, parishioners were exiting mass at a church in the 9600 block of 20th Avenue Southwest, when several churchgoers found a single tire slashed on each of their vehicles in the parking lot. The incident is thought to be related to another call, given the time and proximity, in which a man appearing to be in crisis was said to be harassing people outside the church. An area check for him was negative. There is no indication at this time that parishioners were targeted because of their beliefs, but the matter is being documented and routed as a bias incident.
