#2023-325742/South Precinct/Second Watch:
Armed security at a grocery store stopped a shoplifting suspect who became assaultive toward the security guard. The suspect dropped a bottle of wine that shattered on the ground near the entrance to the store. During the ensuing struggle the suspect got ahold of the broken neck of the wine bottle and stabbed the security officer, causing a deep laceration to the security officers leg. SPD officers arrived and took custody of the suspect who then assaulted an SPD officer by kicking him in the face and head multiple times. The suspect was transported to KCJ and booked for investigation of Robbery and Investigation of Assault. The security officer was transported to the hospital via AMR. The SPD officer suffered abrasions to his face and head but remained on-duty.
#2023-325931/North Precinct/Second Watch:
The suspect stole detergent, dish soap, drinks and fruit cups. On attempting to exit the store loss prevention confronted the suspect. The suspect pushed one of the employees and produced a knife, then swinging it at two employees. At that point employees disengaged and allowed the suspect to leave. The suspect was last seen southbound on Roosevelt Wy NE. Area check resulted negative. No victims injured.
#2023-326427/West Precinct/First Watch:
The incident occurred at a Avis Budget Rent A Car 1919 5 Av. An employee found the suspect walking around inside the secured garage trying to steal a vehicle. The suspect pulled out a knife and made threats to assault. The suspect then got into a rental Toyota Camry (keys in the center console), drove away but crashed the car few blocks away. The suspect ran away and is still outstanding. Officers searched the area but unable to find the suspect. Patrol processed the scene.
