Detectives are investigating after a man was shot and car jacked in the Central District Tuesday night.
Shortly Before 10:00 p.m., dispatch received a call about a male shot in the 800 block of Rainier Avenue South. Police arrived and found a 55-year-old male with a gunshot wound to the arm.
The victim left his vehicle running and when he returned, a suspect entered the car. The victim attempted to stop the suspect from stealing his vehicle and was shot. After the shooting, the suspect drove a short distance away and crashed the vehicle.
Witnesses said the suspect was picked up in another vehicle before fleeing the scene.
Officers provided aid to the victim until the Seattle Fire Department arrived. SFD transported the victim to Harborview Medical Center in stable condition.
Police recovered the stolen vehicle, and the suspect has not been apprehended.
Robbery Unit Detectives are leading the investigation.
