#2023-338900/North Precinct/Second Watch:
While at the grocery store shopping the victim received a call from an unrecognized number. In the background was a young voice saying “Mom! Mom!”, and the caller claimed he had kidnapped her son, and wanted to arrange somewhere to meet with her. During the the phone conversation the victim drove home and verified her son was safe at home, and then hung-up on the caller.
#2023-339222/North Precinct/Second Watch:
ValleyCom called SPD reporting that Renton PD was at a residence investigating a possible kidnap & ransom demand. The suspect(s) claimed to have kidnapped an 11yoa family member who lives in Seattle. North patrol units made contact at the mother & child’s apartment, and found both mother and 11yoa child safe. Renton PD is conducting follow-up.
#2023-339443/East Precinct/Third Watch:
At 2226 hours, officers responded to the 800 block of E Denny Way initially to a report of shots fired. As officers arrived in the area they heard a single gunshot, and the call was updated that a female in the apartments was shot in the neck. Officers entered the apartment and provided medical aid until she was transported to HMC in stable condition by the SFD. After a sweep of the apartment, officers determined the gunshot came from inside the apartment from a room adjacent to the victim. One of the occupants of the apartment fled prior to officers and arrival and sloughed a gun in the parking lot outside that was recovered by officers. Another occupant of the apartment was booked on unrelated warrants. GVRU responded to the scene.
