Police responded to a report of a shooting near the intersection of Occidental Avenue South and South Washington Street early Sunday morning.
Officers arrived around 2:00 a.m. and provided aid to gunshot wound victims found at the location. As officers responded to the scene near Occidental Park, another 911 call came in minutes later about gunshot wound victims at 2nd Avenue and University Street. These victims had fled from the shooting location.
Once Seattle Fire arrived at both locations, they took over medical care and later transported the victims to Harborview Medical Center for further treatment of their injuries.
The five gunshot wound victims all sustained non-life-threatening injuries. Four out of five of the victims were males – aged 34, 27, 26, and 25. The fifth victim was a 25-year-old female.
It appears there was a drive-by shooting during the close of the bars and nightclubs near Occidental Park. The gunfire injured the five subjects while they were outside on the street.
Police learned a black sedan and white sedan were possibly involved in the shooting. Both vehicles were last seen traveling westbound on South Washington Street.
The circumstances that led up to the shooting have not yet been determined.
GVRU detectives responded and will be the lead in the investigation.
