#2024-008569/South Precinct/First Watch:

On 1-10-2024, at 08:14hrs, an officer on-viewed a felony warrant suspect and conducted a stop. The suspect fled and a foot pursuit was initiated. Backing officers arrived and assisted in taking the suspect into custody. Officers then learned he had two children in an RV in the area. Officers located the RV and found it to be unfit for weather and living conditions. There were no relatives nearby, so officers took custody of the children without court order. CPS was notified and the children were released to a legal guardian. Suspect was arrested for his felony warrant and resisting arrest.

#2024-008975/West Precinct/Second Watch:

At 15:24hrs, foot beat officers were flagged down about an assault that was in progress at 3rd Avenue and Pine Street. Officers arrived quickly in the area and observed a crowd around a male on the ground assaulting him. The crowd quickly dispersed except for two victims. The one victim on the ground had significant injuries to his head and body and the other victim had a laceration on her hand/wrist and arm. Officers provided medical aid and then gathered information about the incident.

#2024-009064/North Precinct/Second Watch:

At 16:44hrs, officers responded to the area of Lake City Way Northeast and 18th Avenue Northeast to reports of shots fired. Officers located the suspect and took him into custody. A stolen handgun was recovered from the suspect. The suspect was experiencing a behavioral crisis episode and provided consent for officers and GVRU detectives who responded to recover an additional rifle from his residence for safety. There were no victims, and no property damage was located. This incident remains under investigation.

#2024-009135/North Precinct/Second Watch:

At 17:49hrs, the suspect attempted to shoplift but was intercepted by store security. The suspect assaulted security while security was recovering the stolen merchandise. Later, the same suspect assaulted a security officer again and threatened to kill staff before leaving. The suspect returned while responding officers were on-scene and was taken into custody. Suspect also had warrants for assault, possession of stolen vehicle, and a DOC escape warrant.

#2024-009339/South Precinct/Third Watch:

At 22:06hrs, officers were dispatched to a disturbance at a gas station. Officers arrived and contacted the employee/caller. The caller stated that the suspect came into the gas station with a gun visible in his waistband and demanded gas. The caller attempted to push the suspect out of the store and the gun fell onto the ground. The caller and the suspect then fought over the gun. During the fight the gun went off. The suspect fled in a vehicle. No one on scene was injured. Officers recovered the firearm.
