Man Riding Scooter Seriously Injured by DUI Driver in Queen Anne

TCIS detectives investigate after a 22-year-old man was seriously injured after being struck by a 26-year-old male DUI driver in Queen Anne Neighborhood.

Shortly after 2:00 a.m., Officers responded to reports of a man hit while riding his scooter around Mercer Street and Queen Anne Avenue North.

Seattle Fire Department arrived and provided aid to the victim that suffered serious injuries to both legs. The man was stabilized and transported to Harborview Medical Center in serious condition.

Police learned the driver was traveling eastbound on Mercer Street, changed lanes, and collided with the male riding his scooter. The suspect continued east on Mercer Street before being stopped by officers at 3rd Avenue North and Mercer Street.

An SPD Drug Recognition Expert arrived and evaluated the driver. The man was believed to be impaired and was placed into custody.

The suspect was arrested for Hit and Run; Vehicular Assault and booked into king county Jail.   

TCIS detectives responded and will be working to determine the circumstances that led up to the collision.
