A 51-year-old woman is recovering at an area hospital after being shot during a robbery in the Chinatown International District Tuesday morning.
Shortly after 4:00 a.m., officers responded to reports of a person shot in the 600 block of 12th Avenue South. Officers arrived and located the female victim with an apparent gunshot wound. Officers provided medical aid until Seattle Fire Department personnel arrived and transported the victim to Harborview Medical Center in stable condition.
Officers learned the victim was standing on the sidewalk when an unknown male approached on a bike. The male suspect asked for a cigarette then grabbed the victim’s purse. The two struggled over the purse until the suspect pulled out a gun and shot the victim. The suspect was last seen running southbound over the Jose Rizal Bridge
Officers searched the area but were unable to locate the suspect. Robbery detectives will be leading the investigation.
