Detectives are piecing together the details of an early morning collision that left a man dead Wednesday morning in the Industrial District.
Shortly before 5:00 a.m., officers responded to reports of a collision involving a vehicle and a pedestrian. Officers, along with Seattle Fire Department medics, arrived and located a male unresponsive in the roadway. The male was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Patrol officers cordoned off the area and detectives with the Traffic Collision Investigation Squad responded to the scene.
The driver remained on scene and cooperated with police. Officers learned the driver was traveling northbound on 4th Avenue South when he struck the male. The male was in the roadway and not in an area designated for pedestrian crossing.
A Drug Recognition Expert also responded to the scene to assess the driver. No signs of impairment were observed.
