Sexual Assault Unit Detectives Identify and Arrest Man in Connection to Multiple Cases of Indecent Exposure

Detectives from Seattle Police Department’s Sexual Assault Unit arrested a 34-year-old man in connection to 14 counts of indecent exposure Thursday morning in Lake Forest Park.

The first known incident occurred on January 2nd, 2024, in the Magnolia neighborhood. Patrol officers were dispatched to a report of male who exposed himself to two juvenile girls near the intersection of 28th Avenue West and West Smith Street. Officers searched for the suspect but were unable to locate him. In the following weeks, police received multiple reports from around the city of a White male in his 30s-40s approaching children, asking for directions, and then exposing himself to them.

After the initial report, the investigation was assigned to the Sexual Assault Unit. Identifying the suspect proved difficult with only a physical description, but detectives caught a break when the suspect’s vehicle was caught on security cameras in late February. With the assistance of community members, detectives were able to identify a vehicle associated with the suspect. Detectives identified the registered owner, reviewed additional surveillance footage, and were able to place him at the scene of the crimes.

Detectives arrested the male and executed a search warrant on his residence. Clothing seen in the security footage was located in the home.

The suspect was booked into King County Jail on multiple counts of indecent exposure and communicating with a minor for immoral purposes.
