One Person Injured in South Seattle Shooting

Seattle Police are investigating a shooting that occurred in the Rainier Beach neighborhood on Tuesday just before midnight.

On May 14th at approximately 11:40 p.m., patrol officers responded to multiple callers reporting shots fired and a vehicle speeding away near the 9400 block of Rainier Avenue South.

Officers located and processed a shooting scene with multiple shell casings. Businesses in the area were struck by gunfire and sustained damage. The suspect(s) fled the scene and were not located.

While investigating, police also responded to the 200 block of Rainier Avenue South in Renton where they located a victim from the shooting; a 20-year-old male with a gunshot wound to his arm and a graze wound to his head. He was treated by the Renton Fire Department and transported to Harborview Medical Center in stable condition.

An involved party that was with the victim was arrested for driving under the influence. He was also in possession of a firearm. His car was damaged by gunfire, and it was transported to the vehicle processing room.

Detectives from the Gun Violence Reduction Unit were on scene and will take lead on this investigation.
