Seattle Police are investigating after a male and female were shot during a gunfight in the Yesler Terrace neighborhood, Saturday morning.
At 5:01 a.m., patrol officers responded to multiple 911 calls reporting shots fired and vehicles speeding away near 12th Avenue South and South Main Street.
Officers arrived within minutes and located evidence of a shootout including various calibers of shell casings, blood, and multiple vehicles and a building struck by gunfire.
While investigating, two victims were dropped off at Harborview Medical Center’s Emergency Room suffering from gunshot wounds, an adult male and an adult female in their 20s.
Police determined that two groups of people were shooting at each other with rifles and handguns on South Main Street from Borren Avenue South to the east side of the Yesler Terrace Hillclimb.
The circumstances leading up to the shooting are still under investigation and no suspects have been taken into custody at this time. An involved vehicle was seized as evidence and sent to the vehicle processing room.
Detectives with the Gun Violence Reduction Unit arrived and processed the crime scene; they will take lead on the investigation.
