Seattle Police officers arrested an armed suspect fleeing on a bicycle in North Seattle two weeks ago.
On May 20th at 4:47 p.m., patrol officers were completing a stolen vehicle recovery investigation in the 4700 block of Brooklyn Avenue Northeast when they located a possible suspect.
He fled from the police on a bicycle, weaving in and out of traffic, through a parking lot, and down an alleyway.
An officer caught up to the suspect in his patrol vehicle, yet he continued riding away on his bike. The officer exited his vehicle and chased after him on foot and arrested him.
The Seattle Fire Department arrived on scene and treated the Officer for a serious injury to his hand. He was transported to Harborview Medical Center in stable condition.
Officers recovered multiple pieces of evidence from the suspect including a loaded handgun.
The 48-year-old suspect was booked into King County Jail. He will be charged with Unlawful Possession of a Firearm and Obstructing a Public Officer.
Detectives in the General Investigations Unit have taken lead on this investigation.
