#2024-152931/Southwest Precinct/Third Watch:
At 2209 a Century Link and Optic Fiber employee called SPD to report a burglary at one of their vaults under the West Seattle Bridge located at the 2300 BLK of SW Spokane St. SPD arrived and met with the employees who reported that they had fiber optics and copper wiring cut. The business received an alarm at 1827 HRS. The estimated damage is between $100,000 and $200,000. SPD was informed by the technicians that a similar incident occurred in Tacoma about two weeks ago. The fiber optics provides internet and phone service for customers covering parts of West Seattle all the way South to White Center and East to 1 Ave. GIU and MEDIA were notified, and an email was sent to INTEL SGTs. 253 was notified.
#2024-152864/North Precinct/Third Watch:
At 2028 hours, officers responded to NW Hospital for a report of subject with a gunshot wound with non-life-threatening injuries. Upon arrival, the subject provided a vague description of how the shooting occurred. Subject provided multiple possible locations of where this incident took place, none of which appeared to be correct. No scene located. Suspect described as W/M “crackhead” wearing a mask. Suspect not located.
#2024-153178/West Precinct/First Watch:
At 0650 hours, officers were flagged down an encampment fire at 12 Ave S / S Dearborn St. Upon arrival, the officers observed a tent on fire near the 12 Ave bridge. SFD arrived a short time later and extinguished the fire before it got out of control. No victims or structural damage were found. PIO was notified of the fire. ART was notified of the growing encampment for outreach.
#2024-153023/Southwest Precinct/First Watch:
At 0421 hours, Officers were dispatched to an apartment building on the 3200 block of SW Avalon Wy for a noise disturbance. Officers arrived at the location where they attempted to contact the resident; however, Officer presence aggravated him, so Officers made the decision to clear. At approximately 0536 hours, Dispatch advised that the subject was now threatening to kill a neighbor and burn down the building due to the complaint being made. Officers returned to the location. As Officers approached the building, from the fifth-floor balcony the subject threw a fire extinguisher that almost struck an Officer. PC was established for Felony Harassment and Attempted Assault 3. The subject barricaded himself in his apartment unit and refused to come out. Officers contained the scene. HNT arrived and established communication with the subject. After several hours of speaking with him, they believed he was no longer a threat to others, the only thing escalating his behavior was our presence. The subject mentioned to HNT that he had an appointment coming up with a mental health professional. The on-duty Lieutenant at the scene, HNT, and Patrol concluded that clearing from the scene would be best to de-escalate the situation.
#2024-152374/West Precinct/Second Watch:
At 1400 hours, West Pct patrol arrested a suspect for Robbery 1. Information gathered on scene was followed up by the Robbery Unit. A search warrant was served on the suspects apartment and multiple firearms were located and taken into evidence. The suspect is a convicted felon and is unable to possess. Also located was a large amount of ammunition and body armor and evidence of identity theft. A special thank you to CRT 4 who provided scene security for the search.
#2024-153468/East Precinct/Second Watch:
At 1230 hours, A Shots Fired call was broadcast for 6 shots heard from the parking lot of Garfield high school. Officers responded and found that a person was down, and they had multiple gunshot wounds. The shooting happened near to the lunch hour of the school and there was a large number of people nearby when officers arrived. The school went into lockdown and it was determined that the suspect had fled the area. The victim was transported from the scene by SFD medics. Officers remained on scene until detectives and CSI arrived. Multiple witnesses were located and interviewed by detectives. At the time officers left the scene the suspect had not been located. Photos of the suspect were emailed citywide. The victim was later declared deceased at the hospital. Notifications to command staff were made and command staff was on scene.
