At 0017 hours, Officers were flagged down about a possible shooting. A local resident with cameras along Aurora Avenue N advised he saw two people shoot at each other; one in a car and one on foot. Witnesses advised that they thought they saw the person on foot run into an apartment building. A name and a video were provided to officers. Officers followed a small blood trail to a nearby apartment door and knocked/announced multiple times. Due to the shootout, a tactical plan was created for officers to safely continue to hail. With a blood trail and no response, officers forced the door open for community caretaking and hailed again. A person came to the door upset; this person had nothing to do with the incident and didn’t know why blood was outside their door. Without further evidence to follow, officers relocated to the possible victim’s DOL address and knocked/announced. It appeared someone was inside, but at the sight/sound of officers, decided to turn off their TV and appeared to hide. Without an apparent immediate need for medical attention, officers did not force the door. After attempting additional contact with the person in the apartment, and the occupant declining to answer police, we left the area. 3L, 223 on scene. Car 85 notified via phone.
