Seattle police detectives in the Traffic Collision Investigation Squad arrested a 65-year-old man yesterday afternoon following video evidence gathered during their investigation.
With the assistance of the Video Unit, police identified and located the driver of Monday’s hit and run collision that left a young woman seriously injured. She remains in the hospital in intensive care.
Detectives interviewed the driver and booked him into the King County Jail for Investigation of Felony Hit and Run. Officers impounded his white Ford Mustang to the Vehicle Processing Room.
Seattle police are investigating a hit-and-run collision to a pedestrian in South Seattle this morning.
At about 7:30 a.m., patrol officers responded to the collision scene near Beacon Avenue South and South McClellan Street.
Police and the Seattle Fire Department (SFD) arrived and provided medical care to the 32-old woman, who was propelled into the air and suffered a serious injury to her head.
SFD transported her to Harborview Medical Center in critical condition.
The suspect vehicle, a gray or white Ford Mustang, passed through the intersection against the red signal and the driver struck the victim as she was walking though the pedestrian crosswalk. The suspect fled the scene, and police have not located them or their vehicle.
