Police Investigating Hit and Run Collision Into Scooter, Rider in Critical Condition

Seattle police officers are investigating after a 49-year-old man riding a scooter was critically injured after being struck by a vehicle in Downtown Seattle this morning.

At 2:15 a.m., patrol officers responded to a hit and run collision in the 200 block of 1st Avenue South near Occidental Square. Police found the victim lying in the street with a serious injury to his head.

Officers provided medical treatment until the Seattle Fire Department (SFD) arrived and took over medical care. SFD transported the victim to Harborview Medical Center in critical condition.

Police determined that the man was riding a scooter on 1st Avenue South when a vehicle struck him. The driver of the vehicle failed to render aid or call 911 and left the scene of the crash.
