Detectives Investigating Shooting in Seward Park

Seattle police detectives are investigating after a shooting in Seward Park this evening left a 16-year-old boy injured.

Shortly after 10:00 p.m., patrol officers responded to reports of someone threatening another person with a gun in the 5800 block of Lake Washington Boulevard South. Police heard gunfire while they were on scene investigating the incident.

Officers located the victim in the upper loop of the park by the amphitheater with a gunshot wound in the abdomen. They provided the teen medical aid and carried him about 100 yards to the awaiting Seattle Fire Department (SFD), who continued treatment. SFD transported the victim to Harborview Medical Center in serious, but stable condition.

The circumstances leading up to the shooting are under investigation, and officers did not locate any suspect(s). Detectives with the Gun Violence Reduction Unit responded to process the scene.
