At 0210 hours, West Precinct Patrol Officers were conducting Directed Patrols in the 300 BLK of 2 AV S in response to the most recent spate of gun violence and homicides in the area. As Officers were enforcing the newly established trespassing/conditions of entry stipulations of the parking lot in the above listed block, they observed two firearms in open view within a parked/unoccupied vehicle. As Officers were in the process of towing the vehicle the registered owner and his friend returned to the vehicle. Both parties claimed to be Concealed license holders out of Nevada, however this could not be verified. Regardless, Nevada and Washington State do not have reciprocity in regard to CPLs. Additionally, it was explained to them that regardless of their CPL status, per SMC 12A.14.140 it was still unlawful to leave their weapons in the vehicle in such a manner. The pair was educated on Washington State firearms laws, Charged by Officer, and released from the scene. An attempt to gain consent to remove the weapons from the vehicle was made, however, it was denied. The vehicle was towed to the VPR pending a search warrant to remove the firearms.

At 2157 hours, Officers responded to the 4200 block of 12 Ave NE with reports of a male at a roof top party threatening people with a gun. Upon arriving officers contacted the reporting party downstairs who reported that he and others were having a party on the rooftop of an apartment building. The suspect who was unknown to them entered the rooftop, took several bottles of liquor and started to leave. When the RP confronted the suspect about stealing the alcohol the suspect pulled out a gun and pointed it at the RP. Another male who appeared to know the suspect attempted to de-escalate before both took the alcohol and left via the elevators. RP reported he had spoken to witnesses who saw the suspect leave the complex and walk away in an unknown direction prior to officers arriving. Officers checked the area without success.
