
Seattle police are investigating after a 41-year-old man was shot in South Seattle this morning.
At about 2:00 a.m., patrol officers responded to a report of a man shot in the leg near the 2700 block of South Hanford Street. Police arrived and located the victim with a gunshot wound to the leg. Officers provided medical treatment to the man and applied a torniquet.
The Seattle Fire Department (SFD) arrived and continued treatment. SFD Medic One transported the victim to Harborview Medical Center in stable condition, his injury was not life-threatening.
Police determined that the victim was inside of a nearby homeless encampment when the shooting occurred. The suspect, an adult male, had victim’s phone cord and wouldn’t give it back. During the altercation, the suspect shot the victim.
Police searched for the suspect, but they could not find him. Patrol officers processed the crime scene. Detectives in Homicide & Assault Unit will be assigned to this case.
